Resumo

O artigo apresenta um recorte do primeiro episódio “June” da segunda temporada da série The Handmaid’s Tale. Fundamentada nos conceitos do sociólogo francês Pierre Bourdieu (1930-2002), que investigou violência simbólica como elemento sutil quase imperceptível legitimando a dominação na prática; que denota uma dicotomia. O estudo semiótico traz à tona análise fílmica das cenas que evidenciam o abuso de violência psicológica como forma de coação e punição contra às aias que são consideradas entidades negativas e inferiores. Os atos violentos são praticados pela instrutora e guardiã brutal na República de Gilead que usa a tortura como ferramenta do sistema que desumaniza á mulheres.

Abstract

The article presents a clip from the first episode ""June"" of the second season of the series The Handmaid's Tale. Based on the concepts of French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu (1930-2002), who investigated the symbolic violence as a subtle element almost imperceptible legitimizes the domination in practice; that denotes a dichotomy. The semiotic study brings to the fore filmic analysis of the scenes that reveal the abuse of psychological violence as a form of coercion and punishment against the aias who are considered negative entities and lower. The violent acts are practiced by the instructor and brutal guardian in the Republic of Gilead that uses torture as a tool of the system who Dehumanizes women.
